house update {pt. 6}

Things are going to slow down now in our house progress.  It was an exciting 3 weeks where the whole darn house was put up!  Now the inside stuff starts and that isn't so exciting or fast moving.  From the sheet we have, it looks like next is roughing in plumbing, electrical, blah, blah.  I am looking forward to seeing cabinets, floors, the siding color- all that fun house stuff.  But we are still so thankful that we are able to actually do this.

To celebrate and to start to make some memories, we got some Subway ( my favorite place, who knew!) and ate our first dinner in our kitchen/sun room, where our table will probably go.  We explored the upstairs and I am most excited about the laundry room- 1st bc it is on the second floor, and because it has space for storage- shelves and all that fun stuff.

Some pretty cute construction workers.  :)
and the progress- windows, doors (will be painted a fun yellow later) and roof finished

house update {pt. 5}

So we decided to sneak over to see if there was any progress today on the house and there was!  The roof is done and the cover over the porch.
Nice to see real progress and changes, it makes it feel like we really have a house!

house update {pt 4.}

We went out to see the house progress on Sunday and then Wednesday night.  We want to go each night to see the progress, but its a hike out there and not too cheep in the gas, so we try to make it a 2x a week visit.  It was so exciting to see the progress as far as that it is looking like a house now!  The framing is almost done, the first floor and second floor is done, next is the 3rd floor and the roof.  We are hoping that will be done by Saturday when we visit next!
This is what it looked like on Sunday :)
Little man loves exploring, but hard to look at the progress and keep and eye on him!

Pretty exciting right?  I used to see others pictures of their houses being built and thought that was pretty boring, but now that it is something we are doing, it is pretty exiting stuff.  After all, we are going to live here for a pretty long time!

hair cut

Would you believe that this little face now has a new name?  We call him our sour patch kid.....because first he is sour and then he is sweet. True story.

The little man was in need of a hair cut, and since I refuse to pay for boy hair cuts, I went to it.  Now, let me preface this with the fact that Gabe won't sit for haircuts, screams like a tryceratops (yeah that might be spelled wrong) and clings to me like a monkey.  Then, I found the secret.  Bribery.  Yep.

Suckers.  Work wonders.  So, we cut hair and he now looks bigger.  Mama doesn't like it.

And I caught this sweet pea sleeping so he still is a baby....and a sour patch kid.  He sure has the head for it! :)

steps {house update pt. 3}

Our house is finally underway!  I think that I put up pictures of the land cleared which was the 1st step, then the well went in (nothing too exciting there).  Then the footing went in and now we have steps!

Gabe's little feet exploring

Not sure what Sam was thinking! lol

I think Gabe liked climbing!

A little more exploring!

Future backyard, why wait to dig?

And some of us just wanted a snack

Lots of memories to be made here!

my super hero

Next month, my big boy is turing 4, and I know in a few years, that will seem so little....but lately, he is looking so big to us.  I can't believe that I have been a mama for almost 4 years now!  Sam is such a sweet boy, he is so excited for the smallest things in life and that might be teaching me a lesson or 2!

Dear Sam,

Next month you are turning 4 so this is my last little letter to you as a 3 year old.  3 was a big year for both of us- sometimes I was (and still am) completely puzzled by what makes you tick.  One day you are so obedient, listening and going with the flow and the next day, life is tough for you and we struggle to find ways to make our day run smooth.  I know, putting shoes on sometimes can seen like the longest task ever!  You really have such a kind heart, waiting for others, wondering how others are feeling, making people laugh.  I pray that you always know that being kind is far more important than being first, last, popular, or smart- you get my drift.  Sometimes you say things that make us wonder if we really have an older child trapped in a 3 year old body.  Everyone thinks you are about 5, but you are just our football player in waiting!

Currently you and your Papa have such a great friendship.  You and him are quite the pair.  You spend hours at the train station watching trains and learning about them.  So glad you have each other because I don't know if I could sit and wait for those trains!

I am trying to convince you to have a super hero birthday party, but I think you are gonna win with Toy Story.  I am going to have to settle for the new pictures I took of you- thanks for going along with it.   It was fun while it lasted to do my own themes!  Until next month.  Love you super hero.

couch potato

I think I have a little tv lover on my hands.  Gabe is a busy little guy but when 1 certain show comes on, he freezes and watches the whole show most of the time.  It make us laugh because he really gets into a tv stare and won't budge.  Lately, he does however move all around watching his show!

I ain't gonna lie

......the past few weeks have been hard parenting....I really thought that staying at home was going to open my time up- more time outside, getting things done, reading, spending quality time with my kiddos...

I am so grateful that I get to do this, but sometimes having a 3 year old who talks all. the. time and a 16 month old that tugs at your pants all. the. time can kinda get to you.  I have hard time learning that I can't always start and finish something. Dishes, laundry, even talking on the phone has to wait.  I will get the hang of that eventually right?  BUT aside from that,  I still feel so blessed that these two are mine.
